Following the arrival of hurricane Milton in Florida on October 9th, I can happily report that all my Florida people are doing fine. Some still without power or cell service, but healthy and well. Many Floridians are not so luck
I can also happily report that our home in NC is getting back to normal. Power, drinkable water and internet are reliably flowing at the house. The community is still hurting. My housemates are organizing/leading volunteer groups each day to meet the local needs. Some days they are using chain saws to help clear a pasture so cattle can get to the feed, other days they're driving ATVs into an elder care facility to deliver diabetic supplies.
There is much work still to be done to help everyone rebuild their lives - I am grateful that we are fortunate enough to be able to assist.
