Howdy strangers!
It has been a long little while since y'all have heard from me. And what a busy little while it has been.
In August of last year I decided to move my home base from Orlando, Florida to Hendersonville, North Carolina. I decided to go in with two friends and buy a big house there to re-enact the modern-day version of the Golden Girls. True to script, there are moments of comedy and drama - but it is all set to a strong laugh track. My house mates are Pat (with her dog Flynn) and Kim (with her two cats Tigs and Gracie). With cats and dogs and three crazy women, I can assure you that it is never dull around the homestead. I spent the better part of last Fall house shopping, packing my junk and moving all my belongings to North Carolina. And thus, my absence from this poor little dusty blog spot.
Why Hendersonville, NC you ask? A cute little town about 30 minutes south of Asheville in the mountains. Surrounded by orchards, vineyards, great hiking, fishing, swimming holes and mountain views. The downtown is a thriving little place purpose-built to encourage strolling and dining and brewery-hopping. Hendersonville was originally a rail stop for agriculture and orchards. The town sits at the nexus of a couple of rivers so there is lots of accessible rail-trails and parkland (read: intervale land) everywhere.
Hendersonville is a pretty popular place live, most of the Asheville area is. The housing market is crazy hot - Pat's Asheville house sold after less than 48 hours on the market. My aunt mentioned that she has family friends who are also moving to Hendersonville soon - so it seems everyone wants to live here.
We went to open a local bank account the other day, everyone was very friendly and very very chatty so we got home about two hours later. Then it finally dawned on me: even though I had moved about 600 miles north, I was infact, further South than I had been in Florida.
My favorite reason is the weather - it has a goldilocks kind of climate. We get two or three seasons in a day. This year we've had about 6 weeks of Winter where it was frozen overnight but warm enough to thaw out most days. The early spring was grand, with daffodils and flowering trees everywhere. Now we're in late Spring with flower gardens and peonies and rhododendron. It's nice to be able to get out and enjoy outside, more than Florida this time of year for sure.
RosieVan is raring to go and so next week I'm headed to Wisconsin and Michigan to see the Great Lakes and hang out with some friends, then zipping back here for some 4th of July celebrations.
Fifteen shots of Flynn assuming the position. 😂🤣
Looking forward to some live and in person time ❤️
